Quiz! Name the batsmen with 2000-plus Test runs against Australia

by Wisden Staff 5 minute play

In this quiz, you’ll have to name the 22 batsmen who drove Australia, currently the world’s top-ranked Test team, into submission.

Australia have been among the world’s foremost teams in Test cricket. While their dominance has faded since the times of Steve Waugh and Ricky Ponting, picking up a Test victory over Australia still means something.

The same holds true for individual records. Australia has, over the years, produced some of the greatest bowlers, from Jeff Thomson and Dennis Lillee, to Glenn McGrath, Shane Warne and Brett Lee. Even today, Australia’s pace trio of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins, the top-ranked bowler in the world, send shivers down the spine of batsmen.

That means every run earned against Australia is a step further towards proving a batsman’s place at the international level. But some, 22 of them to be precise, have gone where nobody else has. They have achieved the rare feat of 2000 or more Test runs against the ultimate opponents.

In this quiz, we ask you name them. You have five minutes on the clock and some of the finest batsmen of the game to guess. Have fun!
