The two sides will begin another battle to see who will hold the Wisden Trophy on July 8, so its the perfect time to test your knowledge of one of cricket’s oldest rivalries.

The list of the most prolific batsmen in the fixture contains many of each team’s greats, but also a few more obscure names and there are several notable omissions too. It’s dominated by West Indians – 20 of the 36 on the list, including all of the top seven, are from the Carribean. The list is skewed towards less modern players, when there were fewer formats, more five-Test series, and hence more opportunities to rack up runs.
