At the last count, 2018 had been a vintage year for seam bowlers in Test cricket. Not since 1956 has the combined bowling average for seamers been so low in a calendar year.
In the latest issue of Wisden Cricket Monthly we teamed up with analytics specialists CricViz to delve deeper into this theme, highlighting the top 25 seamers of the last two years and assessing their key weapons.
We ranked each of them by three measurements – how fast they are, how much lateral movement they get, and how accurate they are, all in comparison to the others in this elite list – then totted up their ranking totals and put them in order, from No.25 down to No.1. To see the results in full (and they make for interesting reading) pick up a copy of the magazine.
In the meantime, see how you fare with these teasers based on our findings.
