India have smashed their highest T20I score in the third T20I against Bangladesh, overtaking their previous best of 260-5, which they made seven years ago.
Led by a blistering hundred from Sanju Samson, India made a mammoth score against Bangladesh in Hyderabad. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav also made a quickfire fifty, while Riyan Parag and Hardik Pandya contributed with cameos as well.
India broke the record of their previous highest score in the 18th over and ended their 20 overs on 297-6, the highest by a full-member country. The previous best by a full-member country was Afghanistan’s 278-3, which they made against Ireland in 2019.
Overall, only six times has a full-member team made more than 260 in a men’s T20I - India (twice), Afghanistan, England (267-3 against West Indies in 2023), Australia (263-3 against Sri Lanka, 2016) and Sri Lanka (260-6 against Kenya, 2007).
The highest men’s T20I team score still belongs to Nepal, who made 314-3 against Mongolia last year in the Asian Games. In all T20Is, the score of 300 has been breached five times, with Argentina Women possessing the highest team score of 427-1, which they made against Chile.
