Ireland & Afghanistan to play 12 Tests from 2019-2022

Afghanistan and Ireland, the world’s newest Test nations, will each play 12 five-day matches each between 2019 and 2022.

Ireland are schedule to play a Test in England in July 2019 as well as one at home against New Zealand in July 2022, while Afghanistan will travel to Australia for a Test in 2020 and host the same opponents in 2022.

The games will not be part of the new World Test Championship, the schedule for which has now been announced by the ICC. That competition, running from 2019 to 2021, will be contested by the world’s top nine teams in the format.

2020 Feb: Away against Sri Lanka
Mar: Away against Afghanistan
Apr: Away against Zimbabwe
May-Jun: At home against Bangladesh
2021 Jan: Away against Afghanistan
Aug: At home against Zimbabwe
2022 Apr: Away against Zimbabwe
Jul: At home against New Zealand
Aug: At home against Afghanistan
Oct: Away against Bangladesh
