Ishant Sharma has recounted an incident during IPL 2019 when he got Ravindra Jadeja into a lot of trouble with MS Dhoni.

Ishant, speaking on the YouTube show Isolation Premier League, revealed that Dhoni had always taken Ishant’s abilities with the bat lightly, and had previously goaded him for not being able to hit fours and sixes.

However, during the play-off clash between Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2019, Ishant tonked Jadeja for a four and a six, and turned around to see Dhoni’s reaction.

“Mahi bhai (Dhoni) used to make fun of me, [saying] that I can’t hit sixes, saying you don’t have that power. Last year I hit Jaddu (Jadeja) for a four and followed it with a six. Then I turned my head towards Mahi bhai to see his reaction, and the earful he gave Jaddu … ah!” Ishant laughed.

Asked thereafter whether he remembered his batting feats more than the ones with the ball, he said: “Of course. With bowling, you feel like a worker a lot of the times, but with batting, [when you hit runs] you feel like a king!”
