Bairstow suffers fractured finger

by Wisden Staff 2 minute read

Jonny Bairstow has sustained a “small fracture” to the middle finger of his left hand, England have confirmed.

The England wicketkeeper was forced to leave the field after being struck on the digit whilst keeping on the third day of the third Test at Trent Bridge. He was quickly taken for an X-ray before returning to the ground.

The Yorkshireman is unlikely to re-take the gloves during this match – though he will probably bat. As the injury is external, there will be no restrictions on where Bairstow can bat despite time spent off the field during India’s innings.

Jos Buttler quickly replaced Bairstow as wicketkeeper.
