England could be forced to alter the balance of their line-up in the ODI series against Sri Lanka, with Liam Dawson a doubt for the rest of the tour.

The Hampshire left-arm spinner sat out training with a side strain that will be monitored in the run-up to the third ODI in Pallekele on Wednesday.

England do not carry another specialist spinner in their squad, and with Olly Stone and Chris Woakes having impressed in Dambulla, Mark Wood and the Curran brothers will be vying to replace Dawson. Joe Root will offer the additional spin option.
