Nehra busts Dhoni’s perceived introvert tendencies

Busting the perceived introvert tendencies of his former captain, former India pacer Ashish Nehra said that MS Dhoni was never averse to engaging his players in conversation after a match.

Dhoni’s lack of approachability outside the field has been the subject of some public scrutiny, with current captain Virat Kohli going public, back in 2013, with his intentions to speak to Dhoni about his lack of responsiveness on the phone.

Nehra, however, offered a completely different view, saying the door to Dhoni’s room would always remain open. “People think Dhoni is an introvert and doesn’t talk much to players. That is not the case. His room would remain open in the night after matches. Anyone could walk in, order food and discuss cricket,” Nehra said.

“Be it in CSK or in the Indian team, Dhoni would pass on the message on what he thinks a player needs to do during a conversation and that would be enough for the players to get the drift.”

In all, Nehra played 64 of his 164 international matches under Dhoni. He was also a part of the Chennai Super Kings team under the same leadership in the Indian Premier League.
