Sana Mir of Pakistan during a press conference following the ICC Women's World Cup match between Pakistan and South Africa at Grace Road on June 25, 2017 in Leicester, England

Former Pakistan captain Sana Mir has hit back at the Pakistan Cricket Board after it called her social media remarks on fixture clash "misleading".

Mir had earlier criticised PCB for the scheduling of the National Women’s 50-over Tournament, which she alleged was clashing with the 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup.

"Why would anyone schedule a National 50 over tournament at the same time when the ODI World Cup is happening? Why not before?" Mir questioned on X. "Basic prep for our women's team suffering from lack of planning."

In response, the PCB released a statement, describing Mir’s social media post to be "factually inaccurate". A senior member from PCB Women’s Wing clarified that the National Women’s One-Day Tournament will be played in Karachi from November 10 to 23, 2025 – a week after the conclusion of the World Cup, to be held from September 30 to November 2, 2025. The board official termed Mir’s comments to be "hasty".

Addressing Mir’s concerns, the PCB official emphasised their commitment towards players’ physical and mental wellbeing: "From July 7 to November 2, 2025, the national women’s team will be engaged in a comprehensive programme that includes two training camps in Karachi and Lahore, an away T20I series, a home ODI series, and a demanding ICC Women’s World Cup campaign featuring seven league-stage matches before the knockout rounds."

Mir hits back at PCB on apparent World Cup, domestic fixture clash

On the same day, Mir shared another post on X, pointing out that the "PCB social media handle shows the overlap", before saying she would verify information more carefully in the future.

"With due respect, the womens cricket calendar presented on the PCB social media handle shows the overlap, which in reality is not the case, hence causing the confusion," she wrote.

"Moving on, I'll definitely verify my facts from reliable sources and social media publications."

On the surface, the PCB's original social media post did appear to indicate a scheduling conflict, showing the National Women's One-Day Tournament (November 6-24) potentially overlapping with the Women's World Cup (September 25-November 25). At the time of writing, their official website still displayed the same schedule as well that Mir criticised.
