Joe Leach has will miss the remainder of the 2018 season with a stress fracture of his back.

The Worcestershire skipper got through only four overs in the side’s Royal London One-Day Cup win over Warwickshire and has since been ruled out of action for an extended period.

Leach has been instrumental and inspirational for Worcestershire with both ball and bat in recent seasons. This year he has taken 23 first-class wickets at 22.08.

Worcestershire are set to play in the semi-final of the One-Day Cup on Sunday against either Nottinghamshire and Kent, with a replacement captain yet to be confirmed.
