Litton Das misses Super Fours clash against India

Both sides entered the fixture with wins in their previous Super Fours matches. Bangladesh beat Sri Lanka in a last-over thriller on September 20, while a day later, India continued to extend their dominance over Pakistan with a six-wicket victory.

Bangladesh are meeting India for the first time since they conceded 297-6 in a bilateral series last October. However, for this crucial fixture, they are without their captain Litton. Instead, Jaker Ali was the one who came out for the toss, which they won.

Along with Litton, Bangladesh made a total of four changes to the team, as Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, and Mahedi Hasan also missed out. Instead, they brought in Parvez Hossain Emon, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, seam-bowling all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin, and Rishad Hossain. Emon is expected to open the innings with Saif Hassan moving down to No. 3.

At the toss, Ali revealed that Litton had picked up a left side strain during a practice session, which forced him out of Wednesday’s clash. This is the first time Ali is leading Bangladesh in any format.

"He got injured during a practice session and unfortunately he misses out on this crucial game," Ali said after electing to bowl.

Litton has scored 119 runs at a strike-rate of 129.34 from four innings in this year’s Asia Cup so far, including a highest score of 59 against Hong Kong.
