India played Pakistan in a Group A fixture in Dubai on Sunday (September 14) in the backdrop of political tensions following the Pahalgam terror attack and the consequent military conflict between the two nations. The match ended up being one-sided, with India restricting Pakistan to 127-9 in 20 overs and chasing the target down comfortably with 25 balls and seven wickets to spare.

While there weren't any noticeable incidents during the game, what followed after Suryakumar Yadav hit the winning six has snowballed into a serious controversy.

Indian players refused to shake hands with their Pakistan counterparts, which prompted Pakistan captain Salman Agha to skip the post-match presentation. Some reports also suggested that match referee Andy Pycroft might have requested Agha "not to shake hands with his Indian counterpart" at the toss.

On Monday (September 15) morning, PCB chair (and Asian Cricket Council president) Mohsin Naqvi made a social media post demanding the removal of Pycroft from the Asia Cup panel of referees, a request which has been rejected by the ICC.
