It is said that “music is a language that transcends all boundaries” and ICC World Cup theme songs are no different. Playing a role in the buildup and hype, the anthems have traditionally captured the imagination of the fans. They somehow act as a prelude to the cliffhanger the marquee event is.
In the recently launched theme song by the International Cricket Council (ICC), Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh is the lead dancer along with lead singer and composer Pritam. The music video depicts the extravaganza of the quadrennial show. The the song title translates to ‘the heart celebrates’, and the choreography lives up to the name with its upbeat steps and music.
However, the release has received mixed reactions from the internet: many reckon the anthem has failed to match the standards set by the past editions.
The upcoming World Cup kicks off with a clash between England and New Zealand, finalists of the 2019 edition, on October 5 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
When India co-hosted the World Cup along with Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, in 2011, they won the title.
