Alana King's 7-18 helps Australia thrash South Africa in Indore

Australia stand-in skipper Tahlia McGrath won the toss at the Holkar Stadium and elected to field. South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt did the bulk of the early scoring, with the scoreboard reading 32-1 when she was dismissed for 31. But that would be as good as it got for South Africa.

Tazmin Brits was trapped lbw in the Powerplay, before Australia leggie Alana King stole the show. King struck twice in the 12th over to remove Sune Luus and Marizanne Kapp, before getting rid of Annerie Dercksen and Chloe Tryon in the 16th. At that point, her figures read 4-0.

Sinalo Jafta and Masabata Klaas were King's fifth and sixth victims, and she took the last wicket of the innings, bowling Nadine de Klerk to finish with 7-18; the best figures in Women's World Cup history, the best figures for Australia in women's ODIs, and the fourth-best figures overall in the format. With a meagre target of 98 on the board, Australia galloped home with seven wickets, and 199 balls to spare.

This was their 15th win in the last 15 completed Women's World Cup games. Australia secured first place in the league table with 13 points out of a possible 14, and will play India in the second semi-final in Navi Mumbai on October 30. South Africa will take on England in Guwahati the previous day.
