India maintain top spot in latest T20I rankings

The fifth T20I of the India-Australia series was abandoned after lightning stopped play just 4.5 overs into India's innings. The break was followed by heavy rains, with the game never resuming. Abhishek Sharma remained unbeaten on 23 (13), while Shubman Gill hit 29 off 16, helping India bring up their 50 in inside five overs.

After the first T20I was rained out and Australia won the second, India notched up back-to-back wins, eventually sealing the series 2-1.

India, current T20 World Cup champions, haven't lost a series in the format since their 3-2 loss to the West Indies in 2023. Since then, they have gone 13 series unbeaten in a row, only one of which was a draw (1-1 v South Africa). Ever since Australia won a one-off T20I against India in 2008, they haven't been able to beat them at home in a bilateral series.
