With the series tied 1-1, India were asked to chase a record 413, the joint sixth-highest target in women’s ODIs. Despite the steep ask, the hosts got off to a stellar start, boosted by Mandhana’s 50-ball hundred. She smashed 17 fours and five sixes en route to her 62-ball 125 to give India a fighting chance. By the time she fell, the hosts were well ahead of the required run-rate, scoring 216-4 in 21.1 overs.

In the process, Mandhana hit the second-fastest century, just hours after Beth Mooney matched the previous second-fastest effort with a 57-ball ton in the same match. Only Meg Lanning (45 balls v New Zealand, 2012/13) has now scored a quicker hundred than Mandhana in women’s ODIs. She has now scored all of the three fastest hundreds for India in women’s ODIs, having hit one off 77 balls earlier in the series and another against Ireland in early 2025 off 70 balls.

The match has now also seen the highest aggregate of runs in a women's ODI, surpassing the previous record of 678 between England and South Africa in 2017.

Fastest ODI hundreds by India batters, full list (both men and women)

Mandhana's 50-ball century is also now the fastest ODI hundred by an Indian batter in both the men's and women's game. The previous record was held by Virat Kohli, who took 52 balls for his hundred during India's record chase of 360 against Australia in 2013 at Jaipur.

Kohli features in the top five once more for his 61-ball hundred in Nagpur in the same 2013 series. The first Indian to hit an ODI century in less than 65 balls was former captain Mohammad Azharuddin, against New Zealand in 1988.
