Sarfaraz Khan continued his form in the 2025 Buchi Babu tournament with a 99-ball hundred against Haryana today (August 26).

Two hundreds in two games for Sarfaraz Khan

Sarfaraz, who has a first-class average of 65.98, the fifth-highest among batters with a minimum of 50 innings, walked out to bat when Mumbai were 81-3 after they elected to bat first. Just three runs later, Mumbai lost their fourth wicket as Divyaansh Saxena fell for 46, but Sarfaraz, along with Hardik Tamore, steadied the innings, taking the score past 200 within the loss of another wicket.

While Tamore made 39 off 73, Sarfaraz’s innings was more brisk: He reached his fifty with a four in 59 deliveries, and needed another 40 balls to bring up his second ton in as many games in the competition. Eventually, Sarfaraz departed for a 112-ball 111, hitting five sixes and nine fours at a strike rate of 99.11.

The 27-year-old had also made a hundred in the first round of the Buchi Babu tournament, against TNCA XI. In that game too, Sarfaraz walked out when his team was in a spot of bother at 98-3, which soon became 189-5. He made a 92-ball ton before retiring hurt on 138, with his innings containing six sixes. He made 36 in the second innings, but his efforts could not prevent Mumbai from losing the game by two wickets.

Sarfaraz did not play in the second round, against Bengal.

The current form will be a huge boost to Sarfaraz, who is eyeing an India comeback after being ignored for the England Test series. The middle-order batter, who made his Test debut against England at home last year, has made 371 runs in six Tests at 37.10. He has a highest score of 150, which came against New Zealand, and three fifties, two of which came in his first Test at Rajkot.

Sarfaraz was picked for the Australia tour last year, but did not get a game.
