Teenage prodigee Vaibhav Suryavanshi played yet another blistering innings for India U19s today, smashing 10 sixes against South Africa U19s.
India and South Africa are playing a U19 ODI series ahead of the U19 World Cup scheduled to get underway in just over a week's time. In the second match of the series today (January 5) at Benoni, South Africa were bowled out for 245.
Opening the batting in the chase, Suryavanshi made his mark immediately. He hit the first ball he faced for six, and went on to hit a second in the over, with 17 runs coming off JJ Basson's opening over of the innings. Suryavanshi then pumped Bayanda Majola for another six in the next over, and made it three sixes in consecutive overs off Basson's second.

By the time Basson was taken out of the attack halfway through the powerplay, his figures read 0-38 off three overs, Suryavanshi having done the bulk of the damage.
On 45 off 18 balls at the start of the seventh over, Suryavanshi hit Majola for three back-to-back sixes to reach his half-century, followed by a four off the fourth ball. Having reached 68 off 24 balls, his innings came to an end off the first ball of the eighth over, having already propelled India U19s to 95-1.
Suryavanshi smashes Youth ODI records
Suryavanshi's innings today was his fastest half-century in a Youth ODI, beating his previous best by one ball. The only two male players to have scored a half-century off fewer balls in the format are Steve Stolk (13 balls), and Rishabh Pant (18 balls).
Suryavanshi also has the record for the most sixes in a men's Youth ODI innings (14), and the most sixes by a single player ever in men's Youth ODIs.
