Danni Wyatt-Hodge hit a 66-ball ton to start her One-Day Cup campaign for Surrey on a high.
Wyatt-Hodge’s 124 takes Surrey to 389-9 in One-Day Cup season opener
Batting at No.6 in Surrey’s opening game of the 2026 One-Day Cup season against Warwickshire, Wyatt-Hodge scored 124 off 80, falling just five short of her highest-ever List A score. She hit 10 fours and eight maximums during the knock, helping the side post a mammoth 389-9 in 50 overs. The hundred was Wyatt-Hodge’s 10th in List A cricket and the fastest-ever in One-Day Cup Division 1 history.
After being put into bat, Surrey started strongly with a quick opening partnership between Sophia Dunkley and Paige Scholfield, but both fell in consecutive overs to leave the side at 54-2. Alice Capsey and Kira Chathli couldn’t add much to the score before Alice Davidson-Richards and Wyatt-Hodge joined hands in the middle.
The duo added 118 runs for the fourth wicket before the former was dismissed for a 75-ball 57 in the 33rd over, with Surrey at 213-5 and still not realistically looking at a 350+ total. But Wyatt-Hodge switched gears, racing to a 66-ball ton while adding quickfire 86 runs off 55 balls with Jemima Spence.
The England T20I opening batter fell for an 80-ball 124 with Surrey just one run off 300 in the 42nd over. Spence maintained the momentum, scoring 79 runs off 48 balls and taking the side to a mammoth 389. Mary Taylor took 3-78 for Warwickshire while Issy Wong returned figures of 2-64 from her seven overs. All-rounder Amu Surenkumar took two wickets as well, including that of Wyatt-Hodge.
Wyatt-Hodge, who bats in the top order in T20 cricket, has largely batted in the middle order in 50-over contests. She had scored 272 runs at 34 and a strike-rate of 102.25 in nine matches of the 2025 One-Day Cup season.
