Movin Subasinghe showcased his class in the opening fixture of the Major Club 50 Over Tournament in Sri Lanka with a century and four-wicket haul.
Movin Subasinghe shines with both bat and ball
Subasinghe walked out to bat at seven with the score reading 139-5 in the 31st over of the first innings. He took a mere 72 deliveries to get to 140, his maiden List A century, and hit 10 fours and 14 sixes. Among Sri Lankans, only Charith Asalanka (16 sixes for Colombo Districts against Jaffna Districts in 2024/25 has hit more sixes in an innings in List A cricket).
Apart from opener Isuru Fernando (59), none of the batters could stamp their authority for the Burgher Recreation Club. Subasinghe carried the team past 300, towards a competitive total against the Nondescripts Cricket Club.
And it did not stop there. Subasinghe came back with the ball in hand to scalp four wickets for 50 runs. Coming on first-change, he drew first blood by dismissing opener Kamil Mishara for 23, and sent back No.3 Vinuka Rubasinghe for 11. He returned to dismiss skipper Chamika Karunaratne (82), and lastly Yenula Dewthusa (53). Karunaratne and Dewthusa were their best chances in order to get to the total, but 272 is all that Nondescripts managed, losing their opening clash by 32 runs.

This is not the first time that Subasinghe has impressed with the ball. In the previous edition, he scalped 16 wickets off six innings with best figures of 6-19 to be named the best bowler for the tournament.
