In the fourth Youth ODI of the five-match series, at Worcester, Vaibhav Suryavanshi became both the youngest and the fastest centurion in the format.
Suryavanshi blazed away to an astonishing start after England U19 captain Thomas Rew won the toss and opted to field at New Road. James Minto snared Indian captain Ayush Mhatre in the fourth over, but that did not deter Suryavanshi, who exploded in an array of fours and sixes.
As Vihaan Malhotra stayed put at one end, Suryavanshi raced to his hundred in 52 balls, the fastest in the history of Youth ODIs. He beat Kamran Ghulam’s record of 53 balls, against England at Grace Road in 2013.
It must be mentioned that Suryavanshi holds the record for the second-quickest hundred in Youth Tests as well as the second-fastest hundred in IPL history.
