Brooke Halliday’s maiden ton took New Zealand to a commanding 180-run win over Zimbabwe in the first ODI of their three-match series.

After being put into bat first, the White Ferns lost captain Amelia Kerr in the seventh over. Her opening partner Emma McLeod fell in the 16th, when Halliday joined Maddy Green in the middle. From 81-2, the duo took the team past 200, adding 122 runs for the third wicket off 112 deliveries.

Both Green, who was run out for an 80-ball 67, and Halliday completed their respective half-centuries during the partnership. Isabella Gaze was the next to walk in and also hit a fifty, while constructing an unbeaten 151-run stand with Halliday, who would go on to bring her maiden ODI ton off 93 balls. She previously had eight half-centuries in the format, without crossing the 100-run mark.

The all-rounder further upped the ante, scoring her next 57 runs off 25 balls to finish the innings on 157 (118), while Gaze scored 59 off 42. Halliday's knock featured 24 fours and a maximum. New Zealand posted 354-3 before bowling out Zimbabwe for 174, with sisters Jess and Amelia Kerr picking up seven wickets between them.
