Eesa Butt, Sikandar Raza’s son, smashed the ball to all parts of the ground to propel his team to a mammoth total of 518 runs in 50 overs against CBC in the U14 tournament in Bulawayo on Saturday, September 26.
Eesa led from the front for his team, Hellenic Academy, to smash 279 runs off just 146 deliveries across 253 minutes. He struck a staggering 30 fours and 20 sixes (a boundary hit under every five balls), which amounted to 240 of his runs.
Eesa came out to bat at No.3 in the second over of the innings and kept finding the boundaries even as a couple of wickets fell at the other end. Thomas Ferguson managed only seven runs and Tadiwa Virukai 30 but Eesa’s assault put Hellenic on 122-3 in the 16th over.

Once he found an able ally in Tawananyasha Zvobgo, Eesa went berserk. The duo added 307 for the fourth wicket in just 162 deliveries to eventually finish with a gigantic total of 518.
Zvobgo also played his part, scoring 92 off 66 deliveries with 11 fours and four sixes, while Michael Mhishi provided a finishing kick with a 23-ball 33. The CBC U14 bowlers didn’t help themselves, bowling 63 extras that included 30 wides, 4 no-balls and 20 byes.
They used eight bowlers too, to stop the carnage from Eesa, but no one could do so. Jonathan Masuku was among the most expensive bowlers, conceding 101 in eight overs, but he also picked up two wickets. Dylan Ncube delivered the most dot balls, 34, bowled two maidens, and also dismissed Eesa in the 48th over to deny the latter a triple century. Ncube finished with 2-65 in 8.5 overs.
CBC collapsed quickly in their chase, capitulating to only 85 in the 18th over to lose by 433 runs. In fact, the Hellenic Academy bowlers helped them with 45 extras that included 28 wides, three no-balls and 10 byes. Kupakwashe Mutaurwa (15 not out) was the only CBC batter to reach double digits.
