A former Indian state cricketer and brother of a Punjab Kings batter scored a record-breaking triple century in club cricket in the UK this weekend.
Saran Teja smashes record triple ton in UK club cricket
Playing for Breamore and Dravidian CC in the Hampshire League, Saran Teja – who was part of the Andhra state squad at U23 and U25 level in India – hit an unbeaten 363 off 140 balls. The 28-year-old, who is now a strength and conditioning coach in Wimbledon, hit 32 fours and 31 sixes in his innings, which is the highest individual score ever posted in the league.
He came to the crease when Breamore were 38-2 and put on 90 runs together with opener Abhi Jayan. After Jayan was dismissed by Great Durnford bowler Ryan Kelly, Teja put on the decisive partnership of the game with Sunil Raj. The pair put on 362 together for the fourth wicket, with Raj also going past three figures.
Teja in particular pulverised the Great Durnford attack, with Kelly conceding 135 off his seven overs and James March going for 118 off just five overs.
At the end of the innings, Teja's strike-rate read a whopping 259.29, and Breamore had posted 618-4, which is also the highest team scored ever set in the Hampshire League. Teja's individual score is only the second time a player has scored a triple-century in the league's history, with the only other player to do so being Tommy Barton, who scored 331 for Ryde Cavaliers in 2016. Breamore wrapped up victory over Great Durnford by 512 runs after bowling out their opposition for 106.
IPL player's brother scores club cricket triple century
Teja's brother is Punjab Kings batter Pyla Avinash, who was bought by Punjab Kings in the 2025 IPL auction and retained in their squad for this year's tournament. Avinash plays T20 cricket for Andhra, but has yet to make his IPL debut for Punjab Kings.
