In a Cricket Ireland Inter-Provincial Limited Over Cup match, Jai Moondra had a torrid day with the ball, but helped finish one of the highest chases in List A cricket.
Jai Moondra registers third-worst List A figures...
Northern Knights hammered away at the Pembroke Cricket Club in Dublin after Leinster Lightning captain Lorcan Tucker won the toss and opted to field. Ross Adair top-scored with a 41-ball 95, while contributions also came from Morgan Topping (86 in 81) and Ruhan Pretorius (76 in 53).
Four Lightning bowlers claimed two wickets apiece. But Moondra, the hero of Ireland’s famous T20I series win against India, conceded 94 in his seven overs – the third-most expensive figures for anyone to have bowled at least seven overs.
Most expensive List A figures (cut-off seven overs)
| Economy | Figures | Bowler | Team | Opposition | Venue | Year |
| 14.71 | 7-0-103-0 | Trent McKeegan | North West Warriors | Leinster Lightning | Dublin | 2023 |
| 13.57 | 7-0-95-1 | Kevin O’Brien | Ireland | South Africa | Canberra | 2015 |
| 13.43 | 7-0-94-0 | Jay Moondra | Leinster Lightning | Northern Knights | Dublin | 2026 |
Note: All three entries are of Irish bowlers. The top entry for a non-Irish bowler is South Africa’s Wiaan Mulder’s 7-0-93-0 against Australia at Mackay in 2025.
... before helping pull off second-highest List A chase
It was a daunting chase, but Lightning stayed in the hunt. Stephan Doheny hit a 41-ball 58, while bigger contributions came from Christopher De Freitas (116 in 76) and Harry Tector (98 in 80). When last man Moondra walked out, Lightning needed seven in eight balls.
With four to get in the last over, Gavin Hoey ran for two, then for a single to level the scores. When Thomas Mayes bowled a low full-toss, Moondra hit a straight boundary to complete the chase. The only successful bigger chase in List A cricket was by South Africa, when they famously overhauled Australia’s 434 two decades ago.
