Lauren Bell bowling for Hampshire

Lauren Bell was the instigator of a mighty collapse by Durham, taking five wickets in 25 balls on her first county outing of the 2026 season for Hampshire.

Lauren Bell finishes with career-best List A figures in One-Day Cup match against Durham

Bell, who was a key part in RCB's WPL win over the winter, was released from her England duties to play for Hampshire in their One-Day Cup fixture against Durham at the Utilita Bowl. Opening the bowling, she was 0-18 off her first four-over spell as Durham's openers – Tahlia Wilson and Emma Marlow – got off to a strong start.

After a 47-run opening partnership, Durham were pegged back by Hampshire's attack. They lost Marlow and captain Hollie Armitage within two overs of each other, before Australian overseas Amanda-Jade Wellington removed Wilson in the 16th over of the innings. Maddy Villiers was the victim of a sharp run out chance from Abi Norgrove, and Wellington bowled Bess Heath to leave Durham 100-5 in the 26th over.

Bell was brought back on to bowl at the start of the 29th over, and struck with the third ball of her second spell. Having bowled two dots, she struck the top of Phoebe Turner's off stump with a ball angled back into her. The over turned into a double-wicket maiden when Bell followed two further dots up by pinning Katherine Fraser on her back leg lbw.

When she came back on to bowl the next over of her spell, she dismissed Sophia Turner off her second delivery, capitalising on a loose shot from Turner to take the edge. Fellow England pacer Lauren Filer came to the crease to face Bell. She blocked out 11 balls in the middle before she was trapped lbw by Bell for a duck.

Bell bowled the only wicketless over of her second innings after dismissing Filer, but completed the collapse to take Durham's last wicket. She drew a leading edge off Katie Levick from the first delivery of her ninth over, finishing with figures of 5-22 – her career-best List A figures. In her second spell alone, she took five wickets and conceded just four runs.

Having been 97-3, Durham collapsed to 118 all-out, losing their last seven wickets for 21 runs in the space of 14 overs.
