Usama Mir took 6-8 in the National T20 Cup clash between Sialkot and Lahore Blues, setting a national record.
The leg-spinner, who is representing Sialkot in the domestic competition, has played 17 international games for Pakistan. Between 2023 and 2024, Mir picked up 20 wickets across the two white-ball formats for the country, but has since been sidelined in the set-up by Abrar Ahmed and Usman Tariq.
However, the 30-year-old continues to play domestic T20 cricket and is currently plying his trade in the National T20 Cup, where he has picked up seven wickets from two games, six of them against Lahore on Thursday (March 12).

Batting first, Sialkot made 210-4, led by a 31-ball 57 by Pakistan international Abdullah Shafique. Ahsan Hafeez Bhatti’s 47* in 17 took the score over the 200-run mark, a target that proved to be too steep for Lahore.
They lost their first wicket in the third over of the run chase, before opener Umar Siddique Khan and Hamza Zahoor put on 55 runs for the second wicket. But the wicket of Umar - who was Mir’s first scalp - tilted the game in Sialkot’s favour.
Mir wreck through the middle order, picking the next three wickets, as Lahore were reduced to 83-5. His figures after the two overs were 6-2, which became 8-4 by the end of the third.
Lahore slipped to 100-8, and then were all out in 14.2 overs, after Mir picked up the last two wickets without conceding another run. His final figures of 6-8 is the best by a bowler on Pakistani soil, eclipsing Mohammad Imran’s 6-16 from 2023.
This was also the second time Mir has picked up a six-for in T20s: He also took 6-40 in the 2024 PSL for Multan against the Qalandars. Overall, Mir is just the fourth bowler with two six-fors in the format, after Ajantha Mendis, Shakib Al Hasan and Gujarat’s Arzan Nagwaswalla.
