Croatia opener Connor Carroll scored a third consecutive 50+ score to mark a world-record start to his T20I career.
Carroll’s 74-run knock in his third T20I helped him break the world record of the most runs scored in the first three innings of a T20I career. He now has 295 runs in three matches, pushing France’s Gustav McKeon, who had aggregated 286 runs in his first three T20I innings, into second.
A left-arm batter and an off-spinner, Carroll made his international debut in Croatia’s first match of the ongoing men’s T20 World Cup Regional Europe Qualifier A against France. He slammed a quick-fire 71 off 34, top-scoring for his side in a failed 209-run chase. Twelve off 10 was Croatia’s second-highest score in the match.
He followed that up with a hundred in the next game against Switzerland, scoring 150 off 72, featuring 13 fours and 10 sixes. The other four batters managed just 41 off 48, and eight runs came off extras as Croatia posted 199-2 in 20. Switzerland fell 16 short of the target, with Carroll picking up his maiden international wicket as well.
His third appearance came against Jersey, where the Croatia bowlers were put to the test. Carroll himself leaked 63 runs from his four overs as Jersey posted a mammoth 280-3. The opener, in reply, was his side’s top-scorer for a third consecutive match, slamming 74 off 31, with three fours and nine maximums. He found little help from the other batters, however, as Croatia were bowled out for 171.
After three T20Is, Carroll’s numbers read a handsome 295 runs at 147.50 and a strike-rate of 215.32. He has been a regular in grade cricket in Australia over the last two years, and played for the South Australia second XI as recently as February 2026.
