The Women’s cricket competition in the Asian Games gets underway on September 17. Here’s how to watch the tournament live.
Even though the Asian Games opening ceremony is scheduled for September 19, women’s cricket is among the few sports that start earlier. Among eight teams, Japan, being the hosts, and four full-member regional teams - India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh - received direct entry for the Asian Games.
The remaining three teams were determined by a qualifier that took place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in May this year. Six teams competed for three spots, and eventually, Thailand, Malaysia and China qualified for the Asian Games.
Bangladesh and China will lock horns in the first quarterfinal before Pakistan face Thailand in the second clash on Thursday. On Friday, September 18, Sri Lanka and Malaysia will face off while India will face hosts Japan in the fourth and final quarterfinal.
The semifinals will be played on Sunday, September 20, while the bronze and gold medal matches will be played on Tuesday, September 22. All eight matches are set to take place at the Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin, with games scheduled to start at 9am local time (5:30am IST, 1am UK time) and 2pm local time (10:30am IST, 6am UK time).
