Australia announced their squad for the 2026 Women's T20 World Cup on Wednesday (May 13).
Australia pick Lucy Hamilton for T20 World Cup
The six-time champions made the semifinals of the previous tournament in 2024, a blip by their standards; it was only the second time they had failed to make the final, and the third time they had failed to win the competition.
Australia have only played 12 T20Is since the last tournament, fewer than any other side at the 2026 edition barring Pakistan. They will, however, play 2024 finalists South Africa in a three-match series at Arundel Castle between May 31 and June 4, a week before the tournament starts.
Most of their squad has been selected along expected lines – only 16 different players featured in the aforementioned 12 games. All 15 of the squad are from this set, with only Darcie Brown missing out. In her place, left-arm quick Lucy Hamilton, who has just four international caps and only turned 20 five days ago, has been included.

"Darcie Brown was unlucky to miss out," said national selector Shawn Flegler, via Cricket Australia. "But the decision was based on the conditions we're expecting and the make-up of the side. With at least six right-arm pace options in the mix and raw pace expected to be less effective, we opted to go with Lucy Hamilton who offers something different as a left-arm quick."
The retired Alyssa Healy is the major exclusion from the 2024 tournament. Pacer Tayla Vlaeminck was ruled out with injury at the time; neither she nor her replacement Heather Graham have made it this time around. Opening batter Georgia Voll has made the cut, as has all-rounder Nicola Carey who made a comeback to the national side this February, over three years since her previous international game.
