Bangladesh have named their squad for the first Test of the two-match home series against Pakistan.
Bangladesh include two uncapped players for first Pakistan Test
In May 2026, Bangladesh will play two Test matches against Pakistan as part of the 2025-2027 World Test Championship cycle. The first Test match, to begin on May 8, will mark the return of Test cricket since January 8. This 120-day gap between two Tests is the longest in more than 50 years.
Bangladesh have named a 15-member squad for the first of the two Test matches, to be played in Mirpur. Najmul Hossain Shanto will lead the side, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz will be his deputy. Senior fast bowlers Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam will return to the squad.
The squad also features the uncapped Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Amite Hasan. A veteran of 34 ODIs and 45 T20Is, opener Tamim is yet to play a Test match. From 25 first-class games, he averages 40.72 with the bat. Middle-order batter Amite, on the other hand, averages 49.32 across 49 games, and also keeps wicket. Last week, he made 162 to help East Zone beat Central Zone by an innings.
