Towhid Hridoy broke multiple records with his 350 not out for Bangladesh A against South Africa A in the second unofficial Test between the two sides in Potchefstroom.
Towhid scored an unbeaten 350 to register the highest first-class score by an overseas batter in South Africa, breaking England legend Denis Compton’s long-standing record. Compton scored 300 runs for Marylebone Cricket Club against North Eastern Transvaal at the Willowmoore Park in Benoni in December 1948. Riding on his brilliant knock, MCC won the game by an innings and 203 runs.

The 25-year-old became only the third Bangladeshi to score a triple hundred in first-class cricket, after Tamim Iqbal (334*) and Raqibul Hasan (313*). He is also the first from the nation to score a triple century away from home, and his unbeaten 350 is also now the highest ever FC score by a Bangladeshi batter.

Towhid Hridoy's mammoth knock helps Bangladesh A draw second unofficial Test against South Africa A
Towhid came out to bat at four, with his team struggling at 37-2 in the 11th over of the innings, and played a captain’s knock. He held one end even as a he lost Mohammad Naim (34) and Afif Hossain (29) after both failed to convert their bright starts, with the visitors at 135-4.
He then found an able ally in Jaker Ali as the duo added 151 runs for the fifth wicket, with the latter missing out on a century by just six runs. Towhid built another mammoth partnership, this time worth 185 runs for the sixth wicket with Mohammad Saifuddin (87). The hosts picked up a couple quick wickets after the stand to reduce Bangladesh A to 519-8.
This was when Hridoy decided to open up and throw his hands at everything. No.10 Rejaur Rahman Raja (31*) supported him well as the duo frustrated the hosts further, adding an unbeaten 157 for the ninth wicket. In the process, Hridoy crossed the 300-run mark and eventually declared after reaching 350, with the visitors at 676-8 as the game finished in a draw.

Earlier in the unofficial Test, South Africa A posted 512 runs, after opting to bat, on the back of centuries from Lesego Senokwane (111) and Sinethemba Qeshile (128). Zubayr Humza (68) and Kyle Simmonds (66) also slammed half-centuries, playing a crucial role in propelling their team past 500.
South Africa A won the two-match series 1-0, having sealed the opening game by an innings and 413 runs.
