Bangladesh T20I spinner Rakibul Hasan picked up nine wickets during the 2025-26 National Cricket League match between Mymensingh Division and Sylhet Division in Sylhet.

Rakibul Hasan picks up 9-168 in National Cricket League

Batting first, Mymensingh Division posted a total of 401, powered by centuries from Ariful Islam (101) and Abu Hider (107*). They were struggling at 243-7 before Hider’s 105-ball knock, studded with 10 fours and six sixes, helped them post a formidable total.

Rakibul Hasan then produced a heroic performance, taking nine of the ten Sylhet wickets. He bowled a marathon 55.3 of the 130.3 overs bowled, finishing with figures of 9-168, including 10 maidens. The only other wicket-taker was Shohidul Islam, who dismissed the top-scorer Shykat Ali for 175.

Sylhet were eventually bowled out for 489, a total that was boosted by a valuable 58 by Bangladesh fast bowler Ebadot Hossain from No.10.

      Rakibul’s figures of 9-168 are the sixth instance of a bowler taking nine wickets in a first-class innings in Bangladesh. The best first-class figures in the country belong to Sanjamul Islam, who took 9-80 in a Bangladesh Cricket League match between North Zone against Central Zone in 2017.

      Left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak, Bangladesh's fifth-highest wicket-taker across formats, also features on the list. Representing Khulna Division, he achieved the feat twice – taking 9-84 against Chittagong Division in 2012 and 9-91 against Dhaka Metropolis in 2014.

      This was Rakibul's first nine-wicket haul. The left-arm also has an eight-wicket haul to his name, having picked up 8-56 vs Rajshahi almost exactly one year back in October.

      Rakibul has played three T20Is for Bangladesh so far, in the 2023 Asian Games, picking up two wickets at an average of 27.50 and an economy rate of 7.85. He is yet to play ODIs and Tests, but was a prominent member of the Bangladesh side tha won the 2020 U19 World Cup. He took 12 wickets from five innings at an average of 10.16 in the tournament, including an economical 1-29 from 10 overs in the final against India where he took the wicket of opposition captain Priyam Garg.
