BCCI have announced their 2025/26 central contracts list for India senior men and women.
BCCI central contracts: Kohli, Rohit demoted, Shami excluded
The BCCI have released a list of 30 men’s and 21 women’s players as part of the 2025-26 central contracts list for their two senior teams. The contracts will be considered valid from October 1, 2025, to September 30, 2026.
Most notably, the veteran pair of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who now only play ODIs, have been demoted to Grade B from Grade A+, which has been removed altogether. Mohammad Shami, India’s joint-highest wicket-taker in a triumphant 2025 Champions Trophy campaign, has been excluded from the list. He was part of Grade A in the 2024-25 central contracts.
Three players have been named in Grade A, which is the topmost slab now, from the men’s team: Test and ODI captain Shubman Gill, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja. Jemimah Rodrigues has been promoted to Grade A after a superb World Cup, with four players now falling under the grade for the women's team: Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Deepti Sharma and Rodrigues.
Ishan Kishan, who recently returned to the international fold and is part of the T20 World Cup squad, has lost his contract again after being named in Grade C in the previous cycle. Sarfaraz Khan, Rajat Patidar and Mukesh Kumar have also lost their contracts, while Sai Sudharsan has been included this time. Axar Patel has dropped from Grade B to C.
For the women’s team, Sneh Rana has been promoted to Grade B. Shreyanka Patil, Pooja Vastrakar, and Titas Sidhu have lost their contracts. Harleen Deol, Pratika Rawal, Kranti Gaud, Sree Charani, Kashvee Gautam, G Kamalini, Vaishnavi Sharma and Tejal Hasabnis have been handed contracts for the 2025/26 cycle.
