South Africa’s new T20I captain, Donovan Ferreira, scored a stunning first-class hundred in the 2025-26 CSA 4-Day Cup.

In the first match of CSA 4-Day Series Division 1, Boland faced Titans at Paarl. Batting first, Boland racked up 626-9 before declaring their innings. Gavin Kaplan (238) and Grant Roelofsen (150) were the two accumulators for Boland. Meanwhile, Tsepo Ndwandwa picked up a six-wicket haul for Titans but ended up conceding 178.

Titans in response made a torrid start with Glenton Stuurman picking up all the first six wickets. South African youngster Lhuan-dre Pretorius chipped in with a 57. From 125-6, they started their counterpunch with the help of their new captain, Ferreira. He brought up his fifty off 57 deliveries and needed another 52 deliveries to race to his hundred. He was eventually dismissed for a 140-ball 123, hitting 16 fours and a six.
That was Ferreira’s third first-class hundred and his first since 2023, when he struck 116 not out off 103 for Northerns against Eastern Province in the CSA 4-Day Series Division 1.
Despite having played only eight T20Is since his 2023 debut, Ferreira was recently named captain for South Africa's one-off T20I against Namibia on October 11. This will make him the 17th man to lead the South African men's team in the format. Ferreira's last T20I came against England in early September, and his career strike-rate of 176.38 suggests that he could have what it takes to be an explosive batter in T20s.

Before that, he helped the Oval Invincibles secure a hat-trick of titles in the men’s Hundred. His strike rate of 235.06 was the highest of any batter in the competition, with a minimum of 20 balls faced.
Apart from the Hundred, Ferreira has taken part in various T20 franchise leagues, including the IPL, SA20, and Major League Cricket.
