The Delhi Premier League T20 is set to return for its second edition in 2025. Here’s how the squads have shaped up after the list of retained players were released ahead of the DPL 2025 auction.
The auction for the second edition of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) is set to take place on July 6 (Men’s) and July 7 (Women’s) in New Delhi, India. This time, two new franchises – Outer Delhi Warriors and New Delhi Tigers – have joined the men’s competition, expanding the total number of teams to eight. Each franchise has been allowed to retain one player ahead of the auction. Meanwhile, the women’s competition will retain the same four-team format as last year
Delhi Premier League auction: What are the rules?
Each men’s team will enter the auction with a purse of INR 1.5 crore, while the women’s teams will have a budget of INR 75 lakh. The retention cost will be automatically deducted from this amount, and franchises will also have the option to use one Right-to-Match (RTM) card during the bidding.
Players in the auction pool are divided into three categories: Category A consists of senior players, including those with IPL or state-level experience; Category B includes Under-23 and U-19 players; and Category C is reserved for emerging talents under 16. Only cricketers registered with the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) are eligible to participate.
East Delhi Riders have retained Himmat Singh, their men’s title-winning captain, while North Delhi Strikers, the women’s edition champions, have kept Upasana Yadav.
