Dual Ireland and Zimbabwe Test cricketer Peter Moor has called time on his international career on Thursday (July 10).
Born in Harare, Moor made his international debut for Zimbabwe in 2014, in an ODI against Bangladesh in Mirpur. He made his T20I and Test debuts against Afghanistan and New Zealand respectively, both in 2016. Moor represented his birth nation in eight Tests, scoring 533 runs at an average of 35.53, including five fifties. All of his 49 ODIs and 21 T20Is have also come for Zimbabwe, where he averaged 20.67 and 24.26 respectively.

Moor later switched allegiance to Ireland, the homeland of his paternal grandmother. Having obtained an Irish passport through this heritage, he became eligible to represent Ireland in October 2022. His debut for his new nation came during Ireland's 2023 Test tour of Bangladesh.
Overall, Moor became the 17th cricketer to represent two nations in Test cricket. That same year, Gary Ballance, who had previously played 23 Tests for England – turned out for Zimbabwe, scoring an unbeaten 137 in his sole appearance. This made him only the second player to score centuries for two Test countries. Ballance has also retired, and was part of the coaching staff during Zimbabwe’s historic one-off Test against England recently.
Since switching to Ireland, Moor’s Test form declined sharply, averaging just 14.35 across seven matches. His lone half-century during this period came against his former team, a 79 off 105 balls in Ireland’s four-wicket victory last year in Belfast.
Speaking to ESPNcricinfo before his first Test for Ireland in 2023, Moor had said: "I still believe I've got three or four years of good cricket in me at the top level. Even though I might have missed out on a few World Cups for Zimbabwe in the last few years, I hope I can play for Ireland at the next one."
However, he retired without playing any white-ball international matches for Ireland, having last played a Test in February, against Zimbabwe at Bulawayo.
