The 2022/23 edition of the Duleep Trophy will begin on September 8 — here is the full schedule, list of fixtures and match timings for Duleep Trophy 2022.
A total of five games will be played, between six teams, from September 8, across four venues. The first round will feature two quarter-finals, between North East Zone and West Zone, and between East Zone and North Zone. The winners of the matches will move on to the semi-finals to meet Central Zone and South Zone. These will be followed by a final.
Named after KS Duleepsinhji, the former England Test cricketer of Indian origin, the Duleep Trophy began in 1961/62 to serve as a bridge between the Ranji Trophy, India’s inter-state first-class competition, and Test cricket. Over time, the format has changed, and even overseas teams had been invited.
After a COVID-19-induced hiatus, the tournament returns to its older format. This time, there will be a sixth team – North-East Zone. The two quarter-finals will be played in Chennai and Puducherry, and the semi-finals in Coimbatore and Salem. Coimbatore will also host the final.
