The 2025 Duleep Trophy will mark a return to the tournament to the zonal format, and will begin on August 2024. Here are the squads for all six teams.
The Duleep Trophy will return to the zonal format in the 2025 season. In the two quarter-finals commencing on August 28 at two venues at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, North Zone will play East Zone, while Central Zone will take on North East Zone.
The winners of the two games will qualify for the semi-finals at the same venue from September 4, for which South Zone and West Zone have already qualified. The final, the only five-day match of the tournament, will begin on September 11.
Several teams have named their squads for the series. North Zone, as of now, have mentioned specific replacements for the competition in case any of Shubman Gill, Arshdeep Singh, and Harshit Rana is called up to the Indian squad for the 2025 Asia Cup, which will be played in T20 format between September 9 and 28 in the UAE.
West Zone have left out Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane, while South Zone have not picked Mohammed Siraj, Washington Sundar, Prasidh Krishna, or B Sai Sudharsan(presumably in anticipation of national potential call-ups).
At the same time, Duleep Trophy 2025 will mark the return of Mohammed Shami to red-ball cricket, for East Zone, since he had turned out for Bengal against Madhya Pradesh at Indore in 2024/25.
