Lahir Udara scores maiden Test ton in second Test against the West Indies
After a drubbing in the first Test, Sri Lanka were forced to make multiple changes for the second match in Antigua due to injury and illness issues. One of those changes was Udara replacing Pathum Nissanka to make his third Test appearance. And he stamped his authority on the opening day, scoring a monumental 188 - his maiden Test ton, which included 21 fours and five sixes. This was his fourth hundred in last eight first-class matches.
The visitors got to 338/5 at stumps, but it wasn't a smooth ride in the beginning. They were rocked by Shamar Joseph early on as he sent both Nishan Madushka and Dinesh Chandimal packing in a span of 10 runs. Sri Lanka then needed a partnership to navigate their way out, and that is exactly what Udara and Kamindu Mendis did.
The duo stitched together 215 runs for the third wicket, before Mendis was dismissed at the stroke of the 50th over for 84. Skipper Dhananjaya de Silva got together with Udara to add another 93 runs. But three balls before the new ball was due, the Lankan opener top-edged a delivery from Alzarri Joseph to fall 12 runs short of a double hundred. De Silva followed him in the next over.
Lahiru Udara transfers domestic form to international cricket

He registered scores of 261, 126, 20, 94 and 100* in his last five innings of the competition.
He followed that up with two fifties in two matches aganist New Zealand A in April 2026 before his maiden Test ton in Antigua to make it a remarkable run of eight matches where he has scored four hundreds, on top of three fifties.
Overall in 122 First-class matches, Udara has notched up 8,536 runs with 19 hundreds and 42 fifties under his belt at an average of 42.68.
