Australia had a sniff, but India ensured they made full use of the solid start. Captain Soham Patwardhan and Nikhil Kumar, who helped the home side pull off a nervy chase in the first game, got together to formulate the second-century stand (105) of the day, coming off 187 balls. While Nikhil fell for 61, Patwardhan remained unbeaten on the same score at stumps. With him, wicketkeeper Harvansh Singh (7*) will resume day two with India at 316-5.
Among the visitors’ bowlers, Hoekstra was the pick of the lot, picking up 2-29 off his 12 overs. Ollie Patterson, Christian Howe and Vishwa Ramkumar picked one wicket each.
