IND vs AFG 2026 one-off Test: Team news
Many expected India to name a second-string squad for the Test against Afghanistan, given that the match is not a part of the ongoing World Test Championship cycle. But the Shubman Gill-led lineup boasts most of the star names barring Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel, who have been rested in order to manage their workloads and build a bigger bowling group for red-ball games.

According to several reports, India have called up several fringe bowlers to bowl out in the nets ahead of the Test, including Auqib Nabi, Prince Yadav, Zeeshan Ansari, Saransh Jain, Gurjapneet Singh, and Shivang Kumar.
On the other hand, Afghanistan have made wholesale changes to the squad that lost the one-off Test against Zimbabwe at Harare. Rahmat Shah has returned to the fold after missing that fixture with an injury.
Sediqullah Atal, Azmatullah Omarzai, Nangyal Kharotai, Qais Ahmad, Bilal Sami, and Saleem Safi have made the cut with the likes of Ismat Aslam and Yamin Ahmadzai missing out after disappointing performances against Zimbabwe.

IND vs AFG 2026 ODIs: Team news
India have retained their ODI batting core as they continue their preparations for the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup. However, youngsters and uncapped players have also been given a go, including Prince Yadav, Gurnoor Brar, and Harsh Dubey.
Ishan Kishan also makes a return to the ODI setup after more than two-and-a-half years, having coincidentally played his last ODI against Afghanistan in the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup.
Back in October, Afghanistan clean-swept Bangladesh in ODIs, and they have retained most of their squad from the series. Seam bowlers Mohammad Saleem and Bashir Ahmad have missed out, however, making way for right-arm fast bowler Zia Ur Rahman Sharifi and left-arm quick Fareed Malik.
