Shreyanka Patil

Coming to bat at No.9, Shreyanka Patil hit two fours to help Barbados Royals to complete a hat-trick of Women’s Caribbean League titles.

Guyana Amazon Warriors had posted 136-3 after Barbados Royals captain Chinelle Henry won the toss and elected to field at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. The home team's innings never got momentum: barring Laura Harris’s eight-ball 18, captain Shemaine Campbelle (28 not out in 20 balls) was the only batter to strike at above 125.

For the tourists, Shamilia Connell returned excellent figures of 4-0-20-1, while Afy Fletcher and Aaliyah Alleyne picked up the other two wickets.

Shreyanka Patil takes Barbados Royals over the line

Despite cameos from Chamari Athapaththu (25 in 20), Kycia Knight (31 in 37), and Courtney Webb (31 in 27), the asking rate kept mounting for the Royals. The middle order caved in while going for quick runs. Shreyanka Patil walked out for the first time in WCPL 2025when Ashmini Munisar (3-21) claimed the sixth and seventh wickets with consecutive balls.

The Royals needed 27 in 16 balls at this point. Not only did Patil avoid the hat-trick but she put each of the first two balls she faced for a four, bringing the target down to 19 in 14, before playing out the other two balls. At the other end, Alleyne hit Molly Penford for a six and a four.

Patil (10 not out in six) then ran a single off Harris’s first ball. It took Alleyne (17 not out in nine), the player of the match for the second consecutive final, three more balls to seal the win. Athapaththu was named the player of the tournament.
