India have announced their squad for the upcoming 2025 U19 Asia Cup, with Chennai Super Kings opener Ayush Mhatre to lead the side, while Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has also been picked.

The opening duo of Mhatre and Sooryavanshi headline India’s 15-member squad for the upcoming U19 Asia Cup, scheduled to be played in Dubai from December 12. Three standby players have also been named on top of the 15 selected. The U19 Asia Cup will serve as preparation for the upcoming U19 World Cup, to be played from January 15 to February 6 in Zimbabwe and Namibia.

*Left-arm pacer Kishan Kumar Singh’s participation depends on fitness clearance.

Sooryavanshi displayed fine form in the recently concluded Rising Stars Asia Cup, finishing as the second-highest run-getter with 239 runs in four games at a strike-rate of 243.87. His outings included a smashing 144 off 42 against the UAE.
Mhatre, meanwhile, was called up as Ruturaj Gaikwad's replacement by CSK during the IPL 2025 season, and made an immediate impact. He finished the season with 240 runs in seven games at a strike-rate of 188.97 and a top score of 94.
What's the format of the U19 Asia Cup 2025?
A total of eight teams will participate in the tournament, with India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka having secured their spots as ICC full members. The remaining three slots will be filled by teams currently playing the ACC Men's Under-19 Premier Cup.
The United Arab Emirates, Oman, Nepal and Malaysia have qualified for the semifinals of the Premier Cup, and the top three teams will be slotted into the two groups of the U19 Asia Cup. Two qualifiers will join India and Pakistan in Group A, while the third will join Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in Group B.
The top two sides from each group will make the semifinals, scheduled for December 19, with the final to be played two days later on December 21.
