Discarded India wicketkeeper KS Bharat struck a hundred for the Dulwich club in the Surrey Cricket Championship over the weekend.
KS Bharat scores ton in club cricket in England
The former India wicketkeeper, who last played Test cricket against England at Visakhapatnam last year, had signed up to play for the club after going unsold in the IPL 2025 auction. Dulwich were in Division 1 of the Surrey Championship, a 50-over competition, last season, but were promoted to the Premier Division after they finished second in the league for the first time since 2008.
Playing against Esher, Bharat made 134 in 108 balls, with five sixes and 17 fours, helping the team to 318-8 in their 50 overs. Dale Shaw (45), Will Jenkins (36) and Kiaf Ramzan (33) made contributions as well. In reply, Esher lost early wickets and were 77-3 at one stage before David Brent (87) and Don Butchart (45) staged a fightback. They eventually fell eight runs short of the target.
Bharat, who has played 105 first-class games, has also turned out in 76 List A matches, scoring 2,502 runs with eight hundreds at an average of 37.34. In the IPL, Bharat has represented Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru in ten games in total, scoring 199 runs at 122.
His Test appearances have been limited to seven, with a high score of 44 and an average of 20.09. That includes one Test in England, the 2023 WTC final where he made 5 and 23 against Australia.
While several India internationals have turned out and played county cricket of late, very few have turned out to represent a club.
