Chris Gayle is the only batter in the world to make more than 10 T20 hundreds — here is a list of players with the most centuries in the shortest format.
Getting to triple-figures in a T20 innings, where a player has a maximum of 120 balls to make an impact, is no easy task. However, despite that, a number of players have scored multiple hundreds in the format, which is the biggest evidence of how aggressive they can be.
As many as 23 players have scored five or more hundreds in T20s, and here is the top-four list.
Most T20 centuries: The top four
Chris Gayle – 22 hundreds
The West Indies striker is the only cricketer to score more than eight centuries, recording as many as 22 three-figure scores. The left-hander has played 463 matches, scoring as many as 14,562 runs at an average of 36.22 and a strike rate of nearing 145. He is the only batter to hit more than 1,000 sixes: with 1,056 maximums, he is 283 hits clear of second-placed Kieron Pollard. Known for his fearless batting, it hardly comes as a surprise that Gayle has the most hundreds in the format.
Michael Klinger – 8 hundreds
The Australian played only three T20Is for Australia but managed to leave quite a mark in domestic T20 games, smashing as many as eight hundreds in 206 matches. Klinger first made a century in the format in 2013 and was at his best in the Natwest T20 Blast in 2015, when he scored three hundreds to end with 654 runs at an average of 81.75.
David Warner – 8 hundreds
The Australian opener has a T20 strike rate of 141.24 and has amassed 10,740 runs in 325 matches. The left-hander is unstoppable on his day, and the eight hundreds that he has accumulated is proof of that. Four of Warner’s hundreds have come in the Indian Premier League, two in the now-defunct T20 Champions League, one in the Big Bash League, and another for Australia against Sri Lanka.
Aaron Finch – 8 hundreds
Warner’s opening partner has also accumulated eight hundreds, with two centuries coming for Australia. Finch, who is Australia’s white-ball captain, first got to the landmark in 2012, but the highlight was a blistering 172 off just 76 balls in 2018 against Zimbabwe. He has another 150-plus score: a knock of 156 that came at a strike rate of 247.62 against England in 2013.
