Mackenzie Harvey struck a blazing ton in a Top End T20 match between Adelaide Strikers Academy and Bangladesh A in Darwin on Saturday (August 23).

Batting first, Bangladesh A made 175-4, Afif Hossain top-scoring with an unbeaten 40 off 23 balls. Opener Jishan Alam also contributed with 50 off 38 balls. Hanno Jacobs (3-33) was the pick of the Adelaide Strikers Academy bowlers.

The Strikers Academy’s chase was spearheaded by Mackenzie Harvey's unbeaten 102 off 53 balls, an innings laced with 15 fours and one six. An opening stand of 123 with Jake Winter (35) paved the way for the chasing team.

      The 24-year-old left-handed batter Harvey entered the match with a top score of 71 in 45 T20s. However, his innings on Saturday will not be added to his official record due to the unofficial status of the match.

      Defending champions Strikers Academy are currently fourth on the points table with four wins from six matches – the same as the third-placed Perth Scorchers Academy and second-placed Pakistan Shaheens. However, they have an inferior net run rate to the other two mentioned sides. The Chicago Kingsmen reign at the top of the table with five wins from six matches. With the win, the Strikers Academy have now reached the semi-finals.

      Who is Mackenzie Harvey?

      Mackenzie is the nephew of former Australia all-rounder Ian Harvey, who played 73 ODIs for Australia between 1997 and 2004. Born in East St Kilda, a suburb of Melbourne, Mackenzie has represented Victoria in various age-group levels, including their senior team in List A matches.

      His experience includes 12 Under-19 ODIs for Australia, amassing 467 runs at an average of 51.88, with one century and four fifties. His highest score of 136 came against Pakistan in 2017, albeit in a losing cause.

      Mackenzie had a breakout season in Australia’s 2024-25 One-Day Cup after joining South Australia. He scored 334 runs at an average of 55.67, finishing as the tournament’s highest run-scorer and playing a key role in South Australia’s successful campaign. He has also secured a one-year deal with the BBL franchise Adelaide Strikers for the upcoming season, having previously represented the Melbourne Renegades – notably winning the BBL title on his tournament debut in 2018–19. Additionally, he was part of the San Francisco Unicorns’ squad for the 2023 edition of Major League Cricket.
