New Zealand have announced their white-ball squads for the upcoming tour of Bangladesh.
NZ squad vs BAN: Will O'Rourke, Blair Tickner, Matt Fisher return
The fast-bowling trio of Matt Fisher, Will O’Rourke and Blair Tickner will return after respective injuries, with Tickner finding a place in both the squads. O’Rourke has been selected for the three-ODI series, while Fisher will feature in the T20Is.
O’Rourke last featured for New Zealand in the first Test of a two-match series against Zimbabwe in July 2025 and suffered a back injury during the game. He hasn’t played any professional cricket since and has undergone an intense rehab to be fit for the Bangladesh series, while also keeping an eye on the upcoming tours of England and Australia later this year.
Fisher, who has recovered from a shin injury, had played the second game of the Test series against Zimbabwe, but hasn’t played for the Black Caps since. His last professional appearance was for the Northern Districts in the Super Smash in January 2026.
Tickner, meanwhile, picked up an ankle injury during the home summer and has recovered just in time for the Bangladesh tour. He was notably stretchered off the field due to a shoulder injury during the second Test between New Zealand and the West Indies in December 2025, which was his first Test in nearly three years.
“Will, Blair and Matt have been working very hard over the past few months to get themselves back on the park and back in contention for selection and we’re pleased to welcome them back into the group,” head coach Rob Walter said. “With the amount of cricket being played in the modern game, having depth in our bowling stocks is key. Having players of this quality come back is great for our side.”
