Former South Africa captain Faf du Plessis became the oldest to score a men’s T20 hundred when he struck a 52-ball 113* during the 2026 Major League Cricket opener between Texas Super Kings and Seattle Orcas.
Faf, who is also captaining Texas, opened the innings alongside Saiteja Mukkamalla in the run chase of 221. Seattle, led by Tim Seifert’s ton (104 in 66) and Shayan Jahangir’s 47-ball 78, posted a formidable total, with the team also gaining an early advantage after they sent back Mukkamalla on the second ball of the chase.
Du Plessis, however, steadied the innings at the other end, closing out the first over with successive boundaries. He scored 31 off his first nine balls, bringing up his half-century in 24 balls. He needed 21 more balls for his hundred, notching up his ninth T20 ton - and also the fastest of his career - just less than a month short of his 42nd birthday.
Faf du Plessis becomes the oldest man to score a T20 hundred
Faf was 41 years and 340 days old at the MLC game, making him the oldest to score a century in men’s T20s. Only two other batters have scored a hundred after turning 41 - Paul Collingwood and Graeme Hick. The list of men’s T20 centurions after the age of 40 is highly condensed, too, with Ravi Bopara also entering. Du Plessis now has three T20 tons after turning 40.
The overall record across women's and men's T20s belongs to Bahrain’s Deepika Rasangika, who made a T20 hundred at the age of 41 years and 364 days.
